Everyone thinks that poly relationships are all about hot sex. But here’s the real truth.

My boyfriend binge watches reality tv with me so my husband doesn’t have to. And my husband always has a date to Pink Floyd concerts. Cause that ain’t me. And that’s about it.

We’re really fucking boring.

But like, the mundanity is kinda beautiful?? Cuz like, I would feel crazy uncomfortable pressure if I had to go to and pretend to enjoy something that I didn’t. The fact that my partner can go to someone who shares their interest on a much deeper level than I do is an immense weight off my shoulders.

The fact that it can be boring is lovely. Like, there’s no pressure. It’s so much more peaceful when you can go from one activity to another and a) not feel like you’re burdening your partner with something they don’t care for, at best, and b) having company that *does* enjoy that hobby with you.

Basically polyamory is absolutely boring at times. But that is part of what makes it the bees knees.
