I’ve said it 400 times before and I’ll say it again, rugrats is one of the greatest cartoons ever. Visually, the use of brighter, solid colors go together so well (simple but very pleasing to look at which is great). The comedy is just…so good? The tongue in cheek humor is absolutely my style. The way they use the sound of the drum and cymbal “ba dum tss” after certain types of jokes to indicate that it was particularly silly or corny is rly fuckin good ( from the family tree episode, for example, “hey phil…do bushes wear shoes?” “I don’t think so…but then again I didn’t know babies grew on trees.” Ba dum tss). It has a “this joke is kinda dumb but we laughed anyway” feel and that is my kinda humor tbh. Humor literally is an art, like there is a technique to all the types of humor. (Whichiswhyidonttrustalotofcomedianstheyarentfunnytheyrejustmeancoughcoughhack). And then they also throw in serious topics. The episode where chuckie had a pet roly poly, for instance, dealt with the topic of death of a loved one. Yeah they used a roly poly as the loved one, but the message was clearly visible and easy to understand. Anyway no one’s gonna pay attention to the weirdo talkin abt an old cartoon he enjoys too much but I just needed to get that out cuz it really was one of the greatest cartoons out there. It’s nostalgic too of course, but even if it wasn’t it’s a good damn show. Thanks for coming to my ted talk
